Midgley Village Shop – Staffed by Volunteers

Midgley Village Shop is a community shop run by volunteers for the benefit of the community. It is a not for profit organization and our profits go toward community ventures and maintaining a social hub in the village.

We have now been in our present location for over 10 years and during the pandemic provided a much needed delivery service and maintained a supply of basic food items often missing from supermarket shelves.

We hope to be able to continue for many years to come, but need the continued support of customers and new volunteers to both serve in the shop and help with behind the scenes admin.

Midgley Shop Has a Wide Range of Stock

We stock a wide range of goods including basic food items and we aim where possible to use local suppliers or small independent wholesalers within Yorkshire.

We stock a wide range of tinned and dried goods from Suma and a range of quality preserves cakes and biscuits from independent wholesalers.

Why not pop in and have a look around and a chat with whoever is behind the counter.

Just Jenny's Ice Cream - delicious ice cream made locally.

J. Smith – supplies fresh free range eggs weekly.

Craggies Farm Shop, Cragg Vale - meat and deli supplies. Fresh meat, bacon and sausage, a range of deli produce (including Pork Pies, Sausage Rolls, Veggie pies and quiches), frozen ready meals, meat pies and fish including jumbo fish fingers.

We can only stock a small range of fresh meat, but can take orders for any fresh meat which will arrive vacuum packed for you to collect.

Warburtons and Craggies – bread products. Warburtons deliver three times weekly and we have a range of their breads and breakfast products. Craggies supply us with sourdough bread and bloomers which they bake on their premises. They also supply teacakes and fruit tea cakes which are delivered on a Friday afternoon. Orders for this bread can be made for these items.

Lottie Shaw, Elland – Supplies a range of sweet snacks and biscuits. Most of you will have heard of this local company and be well aware of their delicious range of flapjacks, parkin and biscuits.

Valley Veg – Valley Veg supply fruit and veg to us on Wednesdays. Based in Cragg Vale, they supply fresh, high quality items.

Longley Farm – supply yoghurts, cream, cottage cheese and butter. This is a well known company and our prices are lower than some of the large supermarkets.
